Downtown Has a New Brunch Destination
If you’ve heard the buzz around town that we are going to start serving brunch, it’s true. Starting this Sunday, November 13th we are unveiling our new brunch menu. Our brunch menu will be available Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00am – 4:00pm.
Why now? Nicholson’s has been downtown for 14 years. We are excited about everything that is happening around us. Right now Downtown Cincinnati is thriving and there just aren’t a lot of brunch options available. We think now is the perfect time to open for brunch.
We knew that when we started serving brunch, we wanted to do it right. Chef Paul Dagenbach and the Nicholson’s crew put a lot of research and thought into the menu and really had a lot of fun with it. The menu is creative and unique. We offer items like our signature dish the NicGriddle which is a creative gourmet twist on a classic breakfast sandwich. It’s our house-made sausage patty, cheddar cheese, fig-applesauce and a free range fried egg all served on a French toast bun with maple syrup.

Also on the menu is something you can’t find in many other places in the city, Chicken and Waffles. This is perfect for the cross between breakfast and lunch. The chicken and waffle sandwich is topped with boursin cheese, hot pepper jelly and candied bacon.

What’s a brunch menu without eggs benedict? We knew this was a “must have” so we added not one but three different eggs benedict options from which you can choose: Smoked Salmon, Beef Short Ribs and Lump Crab Cakes. All are served on an English muffin with free range eggs and Béarnaise.

Other items include Tipsey Berry French Toast, Corned Beef Hash, Goetta Sliders (this is Cincinnati, right?!), A Traditional Scottish Breakfast, Shepard’s Pie Tart and Salainti Mhath! (a granola and yogurt fruit cup). We also have some select dishes available from our lunch menu including our famous Fish & Chips.

Some would say brunch is one of the only acceptable times to have a cocktail at 11:00 in the morning so we wanted to make sure we had plenty of delicious options for you. We have all the classic brunch cocktail staples and then some. We think you’ll be impressed.
One cocktail in particular is extra special as it is a traditional Scottish cocktail that dates back to 1475. Our Atholl Blueberry Brose cocktail was inspired by the Atholl Brose, a popular Scottish drink obtained by mixing oatmeal brose, honey & whiskey. According to legend, the drink is named after the 1st Earl of Atholl, who quashed a Highland rebellion in 1475 by filling the rebel leader's well with the mixture, making him easily captured. We tweaked the recipe a bit by swapping out whiskey for our oatmeal infused vodka and adding freshly made blueberry shrub for flavor.
A huge contributing factor to the quality of our cocktails is they are made from fresh ingredients. We make our own purees, infused liquors and garnishes.
Whether you live downtown, you’re an out of towner visiting for the weekend or you are going to a matinée at The Aronoff Center on the weekend, we would love to have you. We are so excited for this new menu and cannot wait for your feedback.
