Disney’s Beauty and The Beast will be playing the Aronoff Center September 29-October 9, 2011 and Cincinnati native, David Baur is thrilled to be home and performing on the Aronoff Center Stage in his first national touring production.

David grew up in West Chester, graduated from Lakota East in 2005 and studied musical theatre at Wright State University.  He also studied at Kristi’s Tumbling and Trampoline for 10 years and was a member of the US National Trampoline Team in 2001 and 2003. He’s passionate about keeping arts programs in our public schools and is planning to lead a Master Class at Lakota East while he’s in town.

We’re excited to have a local actor performing across the street and he graciously took time to speak with us about the show, his excitement to perform at home and even his favorite beer.

What do you do in the show?

I’m a dancer and a member of the ensemble so I perform throughout the show.  One of my favorite numbers is “Be Our Guest”.  I’m the dancing red carpet/ welcome mat and I get to combine dancing with my tumbling skills.  There are a couple of great tumbling passes that are fun for me to do.

What in Cincinnati, are you most excited to share with your touring cast mates?

Well, my Mom has been sending me care packages with Graeter’s Ice Cream so they are all looking forward to a trip to Graeter’s.  I’m also looking forward to just showing them around downtown and the riverbanks.  I talk a lot about our city so they are excited to experience it.

You told us that it’s a dream come true to be performing on stage at The Aronoff Center in a touring Broadway production. What was the first touring Broadway show that you saw at The Aronoff Center?

It was a touring production of RENT and soon after that I saw Disney’s THE LION KING the first time it played Cincinnati.

Nicholson’s is a gastropub so we have to ask you if you like beer.

Ha!  I DO like beer. I may have to stop in while I’m in town.  Since I’ve been traveling across the country, I’ve had the opportunity to try new beers and I’m starting to enjoy the “hoppier” beers. My new favorite is Magic Hat #9.

IF YOU’RE GOING TO THE SHOW:

We hope you’ll make Nicholson’s your drinking and dining destination before or after the show.

We have created a special Beauty and The Beast menu for kids 12 and under and we have some special cocktails for the adults. You can pre-order your intermission cocktail before you head to the show and we’ll have your cocktail ready and on the bar at intermission.
