Billy Elliot is playing the Aronoff Center through January 29th  and CCM alumni, Thad Turner Wilson is thrilled to be back in Cincinnati performing on the Aronoff Center Stage in a national touring Broadway production.  A native of Birmingham Alabama, Thad earned his BFA from UC’s College Conservatory  of Music.  He has performed in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and several regional and touring productions.

We’re excited to have a CCM alumni performing across the street and he graciously took time to speak with us about the show, his years at CCM and his excitement about being back in Cincinnati.

When did you attend CCM?

From the fall of 2001, until graduating in the spring of 2005.

What do you do in the show?

I play many roles in the Ensemble, as well as understudying the tap-dancing piano-man, Mr. Braithwaite.

What in Cincinnati are you most excited to share with your touring cast mates?

I am excited to share Graeter's Ice Cream, specifically Black Raspberry Chip!

Which touring Broadway shows did you see at the Aronoff Center when you were a student at CCM? How does it feel to be performing onstage at the Aronoff Center?

The tour that left the biggest impression was the touring production of "Urinetown."  It was such a unique, smart show with a great cast that featured two prior CCM grads, so I felt a strong connection.  It will be nice to see the other view of the Aronoff Center, which is that from the stage.  Something I wonder whenever I watch a show from the audience is what it's like from the performer's perspective.

Nicholson’s is a gastropub so we have to ask you if you like beer.  We also have some great craft cocktails.  What is your favorite Cocktail?

I do like beer and If I were to choose a martini, I'd say a vodka gimlet with basil.  Hits the spot every time.

IF YOU’RE GOING TO THE SHOW:

We hope you’ll make Nicholson’s your drinking and dining destination before or after the show.

Joey Fredrickson, our craft cocktail guru has created some special cocktails or you can try an English Beer Sampler.  And keep in mind that you can pre-order your intermission cocktail before you head to the show and we’ll have your cocktail ready and on the bar at intermission.
